Now Through August 24th - Under Construction Exhibit
Families can work together to operate a mechanical crane, see if a structure they build can withstand a simulated earthquake, and build a 7-foot foam arch. Test aerodynamic properties of differently-shaped vehicles with the wind tunnel. Use an innovative computer software program to assemble a bicycle. Experience a manufacturing simulation, using planning, coordination and timing as they assemble toy cars. Check out building materials used around the world, try on traditional outfits from other cultures, and create rhythms from different lands.

Art Studio Craft Schedule
May 10 & 11 - May 10th is National Clean Up Your Room Day. Design a coupon for your parents, good for one free room cleaning. Then have your parents sign it and bring it back in for one free admission!
May 17 & 18 - Learn more about our Artist of the Month, Claude Monet, as we paint with watercolors.
May 24 & 25 - Extra, Extra! Read all about it in the art studio. Join us as we get dirty with charcoal and our special newsprint paper.
May 31 - Do you know how sweet color can be? Come taste the rainbow as the Discovery Lab and the Art Studio combine to make ice cream of every color! This will take place in the Discovery Lab and the Art Studio will be closed.

Thursday, May 8 from 3:30-4:30 - Acids & Bases Workshop

Wednesday, May 14, 3:00-4:00 - Art Workshop

Saturday, May 24 - Crack the Code
Morse Code uses dots and dashes in the form of sounds to send a message. Practice sending a secret code to a friend using Morse code in the Eastman Discovery Lab.

Saturday, May 31 - I Scream, You Scream
Celebrate the invention of the ice cream freezer with a tasty treat in the Discovery Lab. Join our special guests from Discovery Ice Cream of Kingsport as they talk about how to make ice cream and their robot friend.

June 6 -14 - Mold and shape your artwork as we explore clay during National Clay Week.
June 21 & 22 - Come celebrate Eric Carle’s birthday this month in the art studio and learn more about collages with this artist of the month.
June 28 & 29 - Spin and splatter as we use toothbrushes to paint a picture and discover the magic of spin art.

Friday - Sunday, June 6 - 8 - Blue Plum Festival
The Blue Plum Festival is a free, outdoor, art & music festival in downtown Johnson City. For more information about the festival events visit www.blueplum.org.
Part of the Blue Plum Festival is the 4th Annual Blue Plum Animation Festival, featuring family-oriented animated films on Friday and Saturday June 6 & 7. These short animations, created by students, independent artists, and professional animators, will be shown in the former JCPenney Building, next to Hands On!, on Friday, from 4:00-8:15 and Saturday, from 10:00-2:25 and 4:00-8:15. Drop in to enjoy a film, purchase some popcorn, and meet creative ETSU students.
Admission to the Museum is buy 1 get 1 FREE during the Blue Plum Festival. Don’t forget to visit our special area for some Hands On fun!
