Grandparent Art: September 12th is Grandparents Day! Show your grandparents your love for them by illustrating a picture of your favorite memory of them!

POP Art: Learn about POP art and Andy Warhol! Some of Warhol’s most famous works of art were of ordinary objects such as soup cans and soda bottles. Try your hand at drawing ordinary objects in the style of Andy Warhol.

All Month Long - Animal Secrets Feature Exhibit
Where does a chipmunk sleep? What does an eagle feed its young? How do mother bats find their babies in a cave? In Animal Secrets, discover nature from an animal's point of view as they explore a stream, meadow, woodland, cave and naturalists' tent. See the world from an eagle's nest, pretend to be a chipmunk and gather food for the winter, and help a raccoon family escape from a hungry fox! Then, play the role of a naturalist and discover more about the animals that live in the woods by examining tracks, skulls, fur, bones and other real specimens.

Monday, August 30th-Saturday, September 11th – Perplexing Polymers
You might be caught rubbernecking when you see the fun and mystifying experiments this week in the Eastman Discovery Lab. Stretch a polymer chain and even make your own silly putty! Several programs each day in the Eastman Discovery Lab by announcement.

Wednesday, September 1st - 9:30am-11:00am – Jr. Blast Off Workshop
Future astronauts will have a blast learning all about space and the secrets of the universe. Make a mini rocket launcher, test soil for signs of life, take core samples, and make a constellation box. Cost $10 ages 8+. Payment is required with registration by August 18th. Arrg mateys! Learn all about the science of being a pirate in honor of Talk Like a Pirate Day. Learn about density, Bernoulli’s Principle, and even what a pirate might say! Several programs each day in the Eastman Discovery Lab by announcement.

• Now - September 16th - Children can color the enclosed coloring sheet and enter the Happy Birthday Hands On! Coloring Contest for a chance to win a free Hands On! birthday party and lots of other goodies! All entries brought to the museum will receive a one-day admission pass to Hands On! You may pick up additional coloring sheets at Hands On! or download one (one entry per child).
